Goofy might 'love' me, but he usually isn't that big on dogs. He doesn't play with the other dogs, he doesn't really react to them either. He usual interaction is to latch onto a small dog and follow it around endlessly while barking at it.
Yes, Goofy does often cross that fine line between 'love' and 'stalking'.
For the most part, the little dogs just completely ignore Goofy. They do end up with a Goofy spit covered back but otherwise not put out by Goofy's attention.
For the first time, Goofy has attached himself to a big dog, Shilo. Goofy has never picked on someone his own size before.
And is he ever attached. I have also never seen him so focused. So focused that I was able to comb out all of his underfur off his rear end without him even noticing me.

Goofy Has Lost His Mind
Of all the dogs in the kennel, he has decided to stalk Flip. Now, Goofy has never attached himself to anything bigger than a bread box before. In all honesty, he usually sticks to smaller than a loaf of bread. What the attraction that brought on this perverse pairing, I will never know.
When it first started, I was worried that Flip was going to give Goofy hell and I was going to have the fight of my life on my hands. Nope. Flip is acting like all the other, much littler dogs - he is just trying to stay away from Goofy with not a lot of luck.
I decide this has to end when Flip won't even come out of his kennel. I grab Goofy's collar and attempt to steer this mountain of fur into the far side of the play yard. Goofy turns his head put his whole mouth on my hand to tell me 'NO!' Oh, I am so sorry buddy, you don't get to tell me 'no'. Goofy promptly spent that playtime in time-out in his run. I figured he would learn a lesson about who is in charge and Flip would get a chance to relax. Nope. Flip decided to go back to harassing Sassy who wants no more to play with Flip than Flip wants to play with Goofy.
See, dogs are really like 2 years olds. They know when they hate something that happens to them, but are completely incapable of seeing that same bad behavior when they themselves do it.

Goofy is at it again
Stalking a little dog. Daisy has about had it and I fear for Goofy's nose, if she ever decided to do anything about it.

When I tried separating the dogs, I stuck Daisy with Davey and Harley. My thought was that this combo would get along, that Harley and Davey need a break from Terry, and that Daisy needs a break from Goofy. Great theory, not so good in real life. Harley decide to stalk Daisy since Goofy wasn't.
Funny thing came from this double tailing to Daisy. Goofy actually was interested in Harley, a dog clearly bigger than a loaf of bread. I couldn't believe it.

Daisy, Daisy
Again with the duplicate names...the owners are just trying to drive me crazy, right?
The other problem is that I think dogs only here the ending sound of their names. So Terry, Davey, Harley, Daisy & Daisy, and even Goofy tend to come when I call any of them. This is not helpful when I am try to get them to un-clump.
"Mingle, Mingle, No Clumping Allowed!"
Don't laugh, they must understand me - it works.

What's in a name?
I mess up people names all the time. I have never been able to remember names and I am famous for trading people's names with those of their friends. UGH. But I can remember dog's names. Why, I just don't know, are they somehow stored in different part of my brain? When I was selling real estate, correction TRYING to sell real estate, I could always remember the dog's name but never his owners - the ones actually buying or selling a house. This was my first clue that I had somehow ended up in the wrong business. My bank balance, or lack there of, was another.
I think I made the right career move this time.
Well, maybe. I seem to be mangling even the dog names this week. I kept calling Goofy, Gunny. Goofy is huge and fluffy, Gunny is a Rott and just huge. I called Remington, Maggie, but that is a little more forgivable, those two are identical. And then there is Shilo.
Pronounced SHY - LO, not SIGH - LO.
"Oh, honey, did I just call you a barn? So sorry."
